Fun Fall Festivities in the Lillington, Fuquay-Varina,and Angier Area

With cooler weather moving in (mostly), the fall season is finally upon us.  If you’re looking for a chance to explore the community, the Lillington, Fuquay-Varina,and Angier area offers tons of fun fall events and festivals for all ages! Take sometime to enjoy the changing colors of our cool fall nights, and check out some of these events.

Whether you’re looking to snag some extra candy at a Halloween festival or eat your weight in fried food at the State Fair, we’ve collected a list of the biggest can’t-miss events in the area!

2018 Lillington Halloween Festival

The town of Lillington is once again hosting their annual Halloween Festival, with fun and games for all ages. Park your car and pop your trunk for the Trunk-r-Treat event, which is a great way for kids of all ages to maximize the amount of candy they can get in a very short amount of time. After the Trunk-or-Treating, stick around for hay rides, tons of different games, and an outdoor showing of the classic ’90s movie Casper.  Concessions will also be available, just bring your own blanket and chairs to get cozy!

2018 N.C. State Fair

Kicking off this weekend, the State Fair runs for eleven days, all filled to the brim with fall fun. There are tons of new foods, rides, and attractions to check out this year, as well as fun free activities. Check out some regional talent at the Homegrown Music Festival or try your hand at one of the several cooking competitions. Whatever you may be interested in, there are tons of ways to celebrate N.C. living!

Fuquay-Varina Haunted Trail

If you’re looking for something a little spookier, check out the Haunted Trail in Fuquay-Varina on October 20th! The first two hours of the trail will be full of family-friendly scares while the sun is still out, the the last two hours will turn the scare factor up to eleven as it starts to get dark. The trail is free (woohoo!) for all ages, and anyone and everyone can attend — as long as they’re okay with getting a little spooked.  Make sure to wear tennis shoes or other appropriate footwear to the event, and feel free to bring a flashlight!

Fuquay-Varina Downtown Revitalization Association

The FVDA sponsors a few fun fall events this season that are open to all ages. On October 26th, head downtown for the Trick-or-Treat event, where all residents are invited to put on their best costumes and grab candy and treats from participating vendors. The event is totally free and totally fun, so bring down all the little ghosts and ghouls for a good time!

Next month the FVDA is also hosting the BBQ, Blues, & Brews event, a fundraiser for the organization filled with the best BBQ, local beer, and smooth tunes. Grab a tasting ticket and sample all of the BBQ to your heart’s content!

Triangle Oktoberfest

On October19th-20th, head up to nearby Cary for the 5th Annual Triangle Oktoberfest and enjoy traditional German and Bavarian food, authentic beers, and tons of activities. Where else in the area can you find yodeling contests, wiener dog races, and live polka music?  Attendees under the age of sixteen can get in to the festival for free, and tickets are on sale now for any older ages, so snag a few and get ready to celebrate October, German-style.
